Koin Direct Simplifies Cashless Payments on Casino Floors

Casino players in the US can now experience faster, simpler cashless payments on slot machines thanks to Koin Direct’s new no-app system.

Players often found it frustrating to switch from cash to digital payments due to these hurdles. Skinner explains, “It wasn’t a lack of demand on the player’s part, it was just a lack of a seamless process.” Koin Direct addresses these issues by offering a streamlined experience that requires no app download or e-wallet setup.

With Koin Direct, players simply scan a QR code on a slot machine and link their bank account through a quick know-your-customer (KYC) verification. Once verified by a third-party banking vendor, funds can be transferred directly to the game. This process takes only a few minutes initially, and subsequent transactions take about 30 seconds. This is a significant improvement over the typical six to seven minutes players spend walking to and from an ATM, which can disrupt gameplay and reduce time spent on machines.

The system maintains the familiar ticket-in, ticket-out (TITO) method, allowing players to move between machines without hassle. For players, this means less interruption and easier access to funds. For casinos, Koin Direct offers a no-cost-to-operator model, with Koin taking a small percentage fee per transaction. This approach encourages adoption without upfront expenses for properties.

Some casinos have expressed concern about losing ATM revenue. However, Skinner points out that the longer players remain at the machine, the more revenue the casino generates overall. He adds that Koin’s conservative estimates show about 5% of players who leave to use an ATM never return to the machine, making cashless options like Koin Direct beneficial for retention.

Koin Direct is already live in Nevada with partners such as Light & Wonder, and certification is underway with other major suppliers including Konami.
