Boomers Sportsbook is set to open two new kiosk-only sportsbooks in Nevada, reaching its goal of 20 locations by the end of 2026. The Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) is scheduled to grant final approval for these new sportsbooks in Dayton and Virginia City at its November 19 meeting. Boomers plans to open both locations immediately after receiving the green light, expanding its footprint across the state.
These additions will mark the 19th and 20th Boomers branded sportsbooks in Nevada. Founder and president Joe Asher confirmed, These will be kiosk-only and will be numbers 19 and 20, highlighting the companys rapid growth since launching last year. Another location in Amargosa Valley is expected to receive approval soon, which would become the 18th site.
For players, these new kiosks provide important physical access points to register accounts and place bets. Nevada requires customers to visit a physical sportsbook to open a mobile wagering account, making such locations essential despite the dominance of mobile betting. Currently, mobile wagers account for over 70% of all sports bets placed in the state.
Asher emphasized Boomers focus on Nevada as a single-state operator. I think its a big advantage for us, he said, explaining that concentrating on one state allows the company to better understand local markets and player preferences. This approach may benefit consumers through more tailored services and localized customer support.
Reflecting on changes since his earlier business ventures, Asher noted the rise of mobile apps and in-play betting as major shifts in the sports betting industry. Sports betting apps didnt exist in Nevada back in 2008 and now that is the majority of the wagering, he said. Players now enjoy a wider variety of betting options and more flexible ways to engage with sports wagering.
While mobile betting offers convenience, players should remain mindful of responsible gambling practices. Physical sportsbook locations like these kiosks can provide safer environments for account registration and support, helping to reduce risks associated with impulsive or uninformed betting. Boomers expansion also highlights the importance of understanding Nevadas regulatory environment. The Nevada Gaming Control Board recently waived appearances by Boomers executives during licensing, signaling confidence in the companys reputation and compliance. This growth in less urban areas like Dayton and Virginia City improves convenience for bettors outside major cities. However, it also underscores the need for players to complete in-person registration before wagering online, a unique requirement compared to many other states.
