Las Vegas Tops US Cities for Meetings and Conventions

Las Vegas has been named the top U.S. city for hosting meetings and conventions in 2026, according to the inaugural Best Conference Cities ranking by U.S. News & World Report. This designation reflects the city’s extensive meeting infrastructure and accessibility, which benefit visitors including players and bettors by offering a wide variety of event spaces alongside entertainment and hospitality options.

The report evaluated 52 major U.S. destinations based on meeting and event space, destination appeal, accessibility, affordability, safety, and sustainability. Las Vegas ranked first, followed by Chicago and Orlando. A major factor was the $600 million renovation completed earlier this year at the Las Vegas Convention Center, which expanded and modernized the facility, making it one of the largest convention centers in the country.

Southern Nevada provides nearly 15 million square feet of meeting and convention space, including three of the 10 largest convention centers in the U.S.: the Las Vegas Convention Center, Mandalay Bay Convention Center, and The Venetian Convention & Expo Center. This infrastructure supports a high volume of events, which can increase visitor traffic and economic activity in the city.

For players and bettors, this means more opportunities to attend industry events, conferences, and expos in a city renowned for gaming and entertainment. The city’s more than 150,000 hotel rooms and convenient access through Harry Reid International Airport, offering nonstop flights to over 150 destinations, make attending these events easier and more accessible.

Convention visitors in Las Vegas spend an average of $1,520 per trip, about 25% more than typical leisure tourists. This higher spending supports local casinos and entertainment venues. However, increased visitor numbers may also lead to busier venues and potentially higher prices during major events.

Steve Hill, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, said, Earlier this year, the Las Vegas Convention Center completed a $600 million renovation effort, adding, “We’re grateful to U.S. News & World Report for this meaningful recognition.”

While the city’s status as a top meeting destination offers many benefits, players and visitors should remain mindful of responsible gambling practices amid the increased activity and entertainment options. The combination of large-scale events and the city’s gaming environment can present risks for those vulnerable to gambling harm. Las Vegas continues to host major events such as the Global Gaming Expo (G2E), returning to The Venetian Resort in September 2026. This event gathers gaming professionals and enthusiasts worldwide, providing opportunities for players to engage with the latest industry developments. Registration for G2E 2026 is open, with details available in our CDC Gaming report.

The city’s gaming scene also features unique attractions like the Sigma Derby mechanical horse racing game, recently relocated to the Golden Gate Hotel & Casino in downtown Las Vegas. This classic coin-operated game adds to the diverse entertainment options available to visitors. Read more about this attraction here.

Las Vegas’s combination of extensive meeting facilities, abundant hotel accommodations, and world-class entertainment continues to make it a premier destination for meetings and conventions. For players and bettors, this means more events and opportunities in a city that balances business and leisure effectively.
